We predict another Argentina-Germany after the Semifinals
This is our 2022 World Cup special edition series. For the fourth part, we present our prediction for the Knock-out stage Semifinals.

Argentina vs Brazil

A match where dreams are made of. It’s sure pandemonium if these two will face each other. Lionel Messi will make his (maybe) last attempt at a World Cup title. It’s hard to predict between the two favorites but Argentina so far has more depth in their line-up.

Both teams will employ a 4-3-3 format. Argentina so far have the strongest attacking line-up with Messi in the lead behind Lautaro Martinez with Angel Di Maria out wide. Their centre-back is also formidable.

The task of defending their goal against Messi rest with the experienced Thiago Silva and Marquinhos at the back, with Alex Sandro and Danilo at the full-back positions. Of course, there’s also the superb goalkeeper Alisson to contend with. Will this be enough to stop the Argentinian star? (Goal Projection: 2-1 Argentina).
France vs Germany

If our projections are correct, the 2014 World Champions Germany are expected to face the 2018 World Champions and current titleholders France. The pre-Hans Flick squad has no matched with a post-2018 World Cup France. But things are different now.
Germany have evolved now under Flicked. Cohesion and consistency will still be the problem but they will have a little less difficulty in dealing with a weakened France squad. But make no mistake, their line-up still has depth and skills.

It’s a 4-2-3-1 format for Germany against a 4-3-3 format for France. Who is tasked to break the German defense and get passed Neuer? Kylian Mbappe, Karim Benzema, and Antoine Griezmann will form a sort of trident to pierce through the defense of Lukas Klostermann and David Raum with Niklas Sule and Antonio Rudiger after that. Then there’s midfield guards Joshua Kimmich and Ilkay Gundogan. Good luck with that.

But France have a strong defensive line, too with Raphael Varane and Lucas Hernandez along with Benjamin Pavard and Theo Hernandez out wide. Can they withstand the attack from Kai Havertz, Leroy Sane, and Serge Gnabry? (Goal Projection: 2-1 Germany).
