Geek Film Review Vol. 4 No. 7: End of Sentence

Logan Lerman returns on the big screen in “End of Sentence”

After being released from prison, Sean Fogle must reunite with his estranged father to fulfill the dying wishes of his mother: to spread her ashes in a lake in Ireland.

“End of Sentence” tells the story of a young man, who after being released in prison, travels with his estranged father to spread his mother’s ashes in a lake in Ireland. Logan Lerman here is Sean Fogle, the ex-con son who has deep issues with his father. The film will take us from the beginning when Sean’s mother bids farewell to him inside prison up to the events in Ireland.

The story between the father and son unravels as they travel around Ireland. The approach of Irish director Elfar Adalsteins is quite familiar and Lerman with John Hawkes who played his father gave a convincing performance. The issues between the father and son are revealed as the two head to the lake where they are supposed to spread the ashes of Sean’s mother. With Ireland as the backdrop, the twists and turns of this journey make it a compelling film, even though we already know what the ending will be.

Geek Rate

helios-256Sun god Worthy (4 out of 5 stars). “End of Sentence” will definitely touch the audiences’ heart but not in a melodramatic way. Adalsteins’ direction makes the best out of the plot but also allows the actors to shine. Logan Lerman really knows how to choose his films well.
