Cristiano Ronaldo goal pushes Portugal past host Russia

He’s been booed every time he touched the ball, so Ronaldo does what Ronaldo does. A nice switch of play from Bernardo Silva allows Guerreiro to gallop into space down the left. It’s a good cross to the back post, and Kudryashov gets caught under it, the ball sailing over his head. Ronaldo is there, completely unchallenged, and easily nods the ball past Akinfeev. Simple goal, his 74th for Portugal.

Chris Wood gives New Zealand lead before Mexico’s double goals

New Zealand striker Chris Wood reflected with disappointment on a mixed evening in front of goal as Mexico secured a 2-1 comeback win in a feisty clash at Fisht Stadium.

Leeds United striker Wood opened the scoring three minutes before half-time, ending a 555-minute goal drought for the All Whites in the Confederations Cup and putting them on course for a first win in a FIFA tournament.

Mark Milligan equalizes for Australia vs Cameroon

Milligan strides in and comfortably converts, rolling the ball to the bottom-left corner. The keeper guessed correctly, but it was superbly placed. Cool stuff from the experienced midfielder. Game on, I guess.

Lars Stindl saves the day on Confed Finals rehearsal vs Chile

Die Mannschaft had been working their way back into the game and now they’ve got their equaliser courtesy of a well-worked move. Can opens up the left flank with an incisive pass for Hector’s run down the left and on the slide he cuts the ball back across the face of goal, where Stindl pokes past Herrera. A fine goal from Low’s men.
